Ben Elliott is an award-winning actor, writer, composer, lyricist, and music director based in Vancouver, BC. Ben’s foray into writing began while attending theatre school, at Studio 58, when he and fellow students, Hannah Johnson and Anton Lipovetsky, teamed up to create the critically acclaimed musical The Park. Then Ben and Anton teamed up with Governor General’s Award winning playwright Vern Thiessen to create The Best Laid Plans: A Musical, which had it’s premier in Vancouver in the fall of 2015, and earned an Ovation Award for Outstanding New Work. Ben has also collaborated with award winning playwright Fatuma Adar, as composer and lyricist on Marigold, which received a Dora nomination for outstanding new musical. He also acted as arranger and music supervisor on Fatuma’s one woman show, She’s Not Special. Another notable achievement is Ben’s music supervision for Daryl Cloran’s adaptation of As You Like It, featuring the music of The Beatles. It premiered at Bard On The Beach Shakespeare Festival and has gone on to have successful runs across Canada and the US. Most recently, Ben earned a Sterling Award for his Musical Direction of Daryl Cloran and Kayvon Khoshkam’s adaptation, A Midsummer Night’s Dream: The 70’s Musical, which premiered at The Citadel in February 2025.
